Timbergrove Migrates ExtremeTix onto Amazon Web Services

Timbergrove, a leading provider of enterprise software solutions, announced the successful migration of the online ticketing platform for ExtremeTix to Amazon Web Services (AWS). Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) provides resizable compute capacity in the AWS Cloud to make web-scale cloud computing easier for developers, and ensures organizations pay only for the compute capacity they need.

ExtremeTix offers its clients – including the Shell Houston Open and Wings Over Houston – the means to sell and manage event tickets online. These services not only require dependable hosting, but also a flexible infrastructure to accommodate high traffic volumes when necessary. Timbergrove’s expertise in AWS service offerings coupled with the high performance of Amazon EC2, were determining factors in ExtremeTix’s decision to migrate from a traditional colocation environment.

“Moving onto Amazon EC2 has allowed us to reduce the total cost of ownership for our ticketing platform, while providing us with enhanced performance and flexibility,” said Tony DiCamillo, ExtremeTix SVP and General Manager. “Timbergrove’s expertise in performing the implementation and managing the process made the migration to AWS extremely easy for us.”

“We were pleased with the opportunity to introduce ExtremeTix to the many benefits of the AWS Cloud infrastructure, and to manage the migration for them,” said Ian Uriarte, Timbergrove CEO. “Amazon EC2 ensures complete control of computing resources, and reduces the time required to spin up new server instances to minutes. The elasticity of Amazon EC2 allows ExtremeTix to quickly scale capacity – both up and down – as their computing requirements change.”

Amazon EC2 is known for changing the economics of computing by allowing businesses to pay only for capacity that they actually use, as well as providing developers the tools to build failure resilient applications and preventing common failure scenarios.

“We’ve consistently been impressed with AWS solutions,” said Uriarte, who recently attended the annual AWS re:Invent conference held in Las Vegas. “Many new tools that make cloud computing and hosting easier and more cost effective were unveiled at the conference. We look forward to our continued relationship with AWS and sharing these opportunities with our valued clients like ExtremeTix.”
