Analyzing the problem

Panama Canal was experiencing security management problems, as much of its staff were members of multiple IBM Maximo Security Groups and Person Groups – a requirement to perform their work tasks each day. This resulted in:

Labor intensive work to maintain user access

Frequent errors that reduced user productivity or resulted in security breaches

Inadequate control of auditing

The Panama Canal faced some tricky challenges resulting in reduced productivity and potential security incidents due to staff members being part of multiple IBM Maximo Groups.

Implementing the solution

Timbergrove implemented a custom solution in IBM Maximo Enterprise Asset Management to facilitate the Panama Canal’s instance of Maximo Security based on user roles. We enabled them to:

Simplify security and access management by defining and associating user roles within their Groups

Comply with security regulations
